A Subclass 405 visa allows self-funded retirees without dependents to temporarily live in Australia for up to 4 years during retirement. Learn how it works

An Australian Investor Retirement Visa Subclass 405 is a temporary visa that allows applicants to do the following:

  • Live in Australia during their retirements for up to four years from the date the visa is granted. After this initial period you will need another visa remain in Australia.
  • You can work for a maximum of 40 hours per fortnight
  • Your partner can accompany you to Australia if they have also been granted the Investor Retirement visa

NOTE: Australia is not currently accepting new applicants for the Investor Retirement visa (subclass 405). However, this existing Investor Retirement visa holders are eligible for this visa if they wish to remain in Australia and they meet the eligibility requirements.
